New Additions = BIG changes- The Full Scoop!

Addition #1
After reading many reviews and much deliberation and good negotiations using ebay, the Hunt family now owns a large, flat screen television. I do not recall the specifics "specs" of the tv, but I know that it is significantly larger than our old, not flat screen one. It looks nice, and we have enjoyed the HD experience as well as the DVR capabilities that allow the kids to watch their favorite/mom-approved show that they often miss because they are either still resting or we are in the van doing an afterschool pick-up.

Addition #2
Birdie has come to join the family! She arrived on Sunday and has already been such a blessing to us. I had several criteria for a dog -admittedly, I was being kind of picky- and she actually fits all of them! It is amazing. She enjoys running (she is FAST) and playing outside, but she loves being inside with us and is unbelievably calm. She makes me realize that Jersey was even more high maintenance than I ever imagined! (God rest her soul.) The big kids enjoy her; Cole is doing great with her; Rachel is adjusting well too, but doesn't liked being greeted by her first thing when she comes out of her room in the morning. There will more news to come about Birdie, but the last thing I will say here is that Gretchen (cousin of a friend) who passed her along to us is amazingly selfless and a huge blessing to our family by sharing Birdie with us. She really would have like to keep her, but didn't feel it was fair to Birdie; so we have been saying prayers of thanks for her generosity and peace for her spirit as I know she misses Birdie dearly.

Addition #3
Toddler Beds! Rachel and Cole are no longer in cribs. We made the switch on Monday, and they have done amazingly well. I think it helps that they have been sleeping on the floor using their sleeping bags for rest time and being able to climb in/out of their cribs for almost a year. The novelty of "freedom" isn't quite the same for them as for a kid that has actually been (and stayed) in a crib for two years. At bedtime, Cole has gotten out of bed to on the light a few times when they first lay down, Rachel shouts at him, and then Rob goes in and lays down the law. It has only taken them an extra ten minutes or so to fall asleep each night, and they don't have any trouble during the night.

Walking with Dinosaurs

A couple of weeks ago Rob and I took Robbie and Alexa to the BOK Center in Tulsa to see Walking with Dinosaurs. It is a production using a narrator, very cool lighting/sound effects, and life-sized dinosaurs. Some of the smaller dinosaurs were people in costume; the larger ones were robotic (?). It was very impressive! We thought the kids would enjoy -especially Robbie who has been hooked on dinos since his Uncle Brian share his old dinosaur toys when Robbie was almost two. It was so amazing that Rob and I were as impressed as the kids! The video here is pulled from YouTube as it is much better than what I was able to capture with my camera, but it is exactly what we saw. AMAZING!

Toothless Boy

We have been teasing Robbie since he lost his first tooth back in November about being "toothless boy". Now that he has lost three more without too much growth in any of the open spots, he has rightly earned that name! (Hee-hee)

Gotta love that smile!

Close up of the hole-y smile. Has anyone ever seen a flap of skin (?) hanging down after the tooth falls out. Weird, if you ask me!

Storms in Oklahoma

Just a note that we all survived the crazy storms that raged through the state yesterday. Precautions were taken as tornadoes were all around the surrounding area, but none touched down in Stillwater. We had rain, hail, lightning, and thunder; we did NOT have electicity. Our power was only out for about 3 hours though. We played in the bathroom for a while, stayed tuned to the radio, and then picnicked on a blanket in the living room with PB/J sandwiches for dinner when we were in the clear, but still without power. The kids seemed to enjoy the adventure, but Rachel and Cole seemed a bit confused (and frustrated) that lights weren't coming on when they would flip the switch. Grandma Kroll had picked Robbie up from school, so she got the join the fun in the bathroom for a while too before she had to leave for work (which was after the all clear came through).

Hello, Forrest!

I couldn't resist adding this photo just for fun. If you recall from the movie Forrest Gump, FG has his eyes closed in every photo, and that seems to be Cole's new thing. If you ask him to smile, he gives a big cheesey grin and closes his eyes. Goofy, but sweet (at least his momma thinks so)!

Dog Visit

Birdie came over for a visit this afternoon, and we think she is a keeper. We have not taken possession of her yet, although her current owner was quite willing to leave her . . . that's not a bad sign, is it? We feel like we need to make some adjustments and do some planning before we welcome her to the fam permanently. As for Birdie, she was very sweet. She had energy and was playful, but was -by no means- obnoxious or unruly. We did find out that she has been an outside dog, so we will need to decide if we want to continue that trend or try to "switch" her to an inside dog. I have always pictured having an inside dog, but definitely see advantages to the alternative, especially since the house is already occupied by 6.5 people (the .5 being my day baby). She hasn't had any obedience training, but seems willing to please and was quite submissive. We think she will be a good fit for us; more updates to follow.
