Kid Speak

The other night at dinner, Alexa wanted some Parmesan cheese on her spaghetti. She is usually one that speaks very precise and understandable. This night however, she asked for "papajohn cheese". I of course thought she was talking about pizza. Krista quickly understood as I laughed.

Playing in the Rain

Last Saturday brought the late effects of Hurricane Ike through Oklahoma. The rain wasn't too bad in Stillwater, and we managed to stay dry at the football game since our seats are under an awning. Shortly after we returned home from the game, however, it started to rain a bit harder and since there was no lightning, the kids played outside in it. These are photos of them getting soggy and having a great time doing it. Cole, especially, was delighted with the drain spout.

Sundays Rock!

So much of my time is occupied by football during the season that I find myself only talking about football when people ask "How's it going?". But so much more is "going" right now. Had a great Sunday with the kids. I came home from treatments and had a quick 30 minute nap. Not sure that I was planning on taking a nap, but I fell asleep after I sat down and let myself relax. Woke up, mowed the yard and played the rest of the afternoon evening with the kids. Robbie and I practiced "football plays." We basically draw up plays with sidewalk chalk and execute them in the friendly confines of the Hunt Backyard Stadium. He is getting pretty creative with his plays. Cole and Rachel were playing with Alexa during this time before we all spent about an hour in the sandbox. Everyone was happy and having a nice time. Of course Cole and Rachel felt the need to continue to eat sand, but no major blowups or problems. I had flashbacks to my grade school days in the sandbox with my buddies during recess. I really enjoy our Sunday afternoons as it is the one day a week we consistently have together to play for an extended period.

Cowboys win big . . . 57-13

Another win for our Cowboys. It really was a no-brainer, but those games always make me nervous because it seems like every week you see some big team lose to a "nobody". Anyway, being the spoiled, or perhaps, just well-taken care of (because people appreciate how wonderful Rob is) fans we were up in the club level seats as usual and didn't even get rained on during the game yesterday. No big injuries. Second and third string players got some playing time. An off week coming up which means (hopefully) more time with Rob this week. All good things! Go Pokes!

Tomorrow's Football Adventure

Our Cowboys meet up with Missouri State Univ. Bears tomorrow at Boone Pickens Stadium here in Stillwater for Game #3. The opposing team is Div. 1-AA, so it should be a no-brainer win, but we will have to show up and play. Originally it was supposed to be another evening game, but the kick-off has been moved to 12:05pm due to the expected arrival of storms carrying over from Hurricane Ike on the gulf coast. I think this game was supposed to be on television, but am uncertain now that the time has been changed and have no idea what channel or where it might be aired. In anycase, we will be there cheering on our team again. HOW ORANGE ARE YOU?

Poop, poop, and more poop

This post is about the less glamourous part of my job. With three kids in diapers (that is, of course, including my "day baby"), I get to see a lot of poop as it is. Then you add in three of my four kids having some issues with "the squirts" as the football staff affectionately refers to diarrhea, and I have seen more than my fair share in the last few days. You can also toss in a naked one year old free from the tub who thought naked pooping would be fun and a poor, squirts-afflicted party having trouble getting to the loo in time and thus major clean-up in the bathroom aisle was necessary on more than one occasion in these last few days as well. All in a day's work, I guess. The upside, the bathroom is cleaner now than it has been in quite a while.

Cowboys go 2-0!

The Hunt clan enjoyed the first home football game yesterday. It was a night game; kick-off at 6:05, but we all made through the whole game. The first half (esp. the first quarter) was a bit painful, but the Cowboys decided to show up and play to make for a 56-37 win over Houston. (A team that beat us on their home turf previously- yikes!) At first it seemed Houston was better prepared and ready to play than OSU, but Coach Gundy pulled the team together. They scored enough touchdowns that by the end of the night, Cole knew to expect Bullet (a horse) to run on the field after each touchdown and Rachel knew to wave her arm back and forth
