Wii Wednesday

Rob and the kids are holding their first official "Wii Wednesday" event while I continue baking. Apparently it is Alexa's night because although she didn't beat Robbie in bowling, she got her personal best score of 134 (or something like that) with two strikes and three spares. Now she just ran out and said that she beat him in golf! It is not often that she beats him in something that actually requires skill; this, of course, excludes things like Candy Land, Monopoly Jr., and many of the card games they play. I hear some frustration sounds coming from Robbie, but all in all, I think they are enjoying themselves.

Oh, what a weekend!

This past weekend was OSU's off week. This often means that although there is no game and Rob won't spend a night away from home (which he does even for home games), he still has quite a bit to do for guys who are hurt or taking care of administrative issues. HOWEVER, this past week/weekend, he was home for dinner five nights in a row!! And, even more exciting he didn't go to work AT ALL on Saturday or Sunday. Those are his first days off since July and even then, full days off seemed few and far between. It was very nice for us all. He even accompanied me on a shopping trip Saturday afternoon, and we all got to ride together to church on Sunday morning. Even though that sounds silly, I really enjoy that. (He always goes to church but will leave right after church is over to go to work, thus drives himself to church.) I loved it all!

Promise Fulfilled

Well we finally figured out how to add the zoo pictures from early in the summer. Not that anyone was really all that interested in them, as no one has asked about the promise for zoo pictures. Anyway, here they are and hope you enjoy.

Thanksgiving Lunch

Robbie and Alexa's school hosts a family Thanksgiving lunch each year. It is traditionally the Thursday before Thanksgiving -as they have the whole week of Thanksgiving off from school- so today was the day! It is always fun. They go to a non-denominational Christian school that isn't too big (I would guess just over 100 students in grades preK-12), but we set up tables for over 400 people as parents, grandparents, and siblings are invited. Alexa's class sang a song and Robbie's class recited a poem with motions prior to lunch being served. It was festive and fun. Our table was full with the six of us, my mom, and my day-baby Andrew.

Colorado Review

I had a great trip to Colorado. The Cowboys brought home win #9 too which makes trips like this much more fun. The post-game bus and plane ride are a real downer when a team loses, but they didn't, so no worries! The trip there was relaxing. Instead of going out like we would normally do on Friday, our quarterback's parents invited the whole crew (wives and other donors) to their house for dinner and drinks. They had a beautiful home in Littleton, CO, with a view of the mountains from their back deck and were quite the hosts. It was nice to be able to mingle a bit more than what typically happens at a restaurant. Upon arriving at the hotel and meeting up with the men who had returned from the stadium, a group of us went out to a restaurant for more socializing, and we even met up with a friend from high school who lives in the area. Saturday morning for me included a lot of stillness, quiet, and unscheduled time. I slept in, read, took a LONG shower, did a bit of planning for Thanksgiving and Christmas (I couldn't resist), enjoyed some pampering from Rob, and had a delightful late lunch with some fun ladies. The evening wasn't as cold as we originally thought it might be; it was actually great football weather, in my opinion. The second best part of the game (winning was no. 1) was actually getting to watch the ENTIRE thing since I didn't have any kids with me! We returned home at 2:45 a.m. to a quiet house with one grandma and four kids sleeping - safe and happy. It's usually great to get away and always nice to come home!

Colorado-bound

This weekend I get to go on the road with Rob and the Cowboy football team as it is officially known as "the wive's trip". Grandma Kroll has graciously agreed to stay with the kids. I don't leave until 1:45 today which is good because I still need to pack for myself and finish laundry and cleaning for those I am leaving behind. Other than the cold weather we will be facing when we get there, I am looking forward to the 36 hour trip. We are looking forward to WIN #9 for OSU so cheer them on Saturday night! I'll do my best to share details and photos after my return.

Sunday Fun

We had fun late Sunday afternoon after Rob got home from work and Robbie was home from his party. It was cool but sunny, and we played outside in the backyard.

Alexa did some tree climbing

. . . and some leaf jumping. Cole was pretty impressed
with the whole idea of jumping into leaves.

Football is pretty popular around here as you can see from the attached footage.

Rachel was roaming the yard as well but didn't seem to make it into pictures this time.

ESPN Gameday Spot

Well, we have been avid watchers this morning and were not disappointed. We finally got to see the story on Artrell Woods and the kids were super excited to see Rob. We all vote that he did a marvelous job! We're proud of you, Rob/Dad!
