39-13 . . . Go Pokes!

Hey there, Cowboy Fans and Everyone else!

Those Cowboys had the right idea this year . . . going out there and getting a win that first game. A little trivia you might not know is that 75 percent of Div 1 football teams play their first game each year on their home field. OSU is not one of them. They have played over half of their last 50 first games on the road and not to pansy teams either. Anyway, they marked up a win today even if it wasn't all pretty and sustained no big injuries- WOO HOO! GO COWBOYS! Here are our fans on their "home field" cheering on our Pokes (in pyramid style) as well as making a few runs and tackles of their own.

Football Begins

And we are off to Seattle today!!! I say we, and mean OSU. We play Washington State on Saturday at Qwest Field. The game is on FSN for those of you who are interested. I am hopeful for a win. We have had a very good pre-season and are relatively healthy after our first 29 practices. We will see how healthy we are after the game. On a final note, my player that had a severe back injury last summer will return to the field. We were unsure if he would ever walk normally again and now he has recovered to actually play football. God's hands were all over this kid the past 13 months! Truly amazing!

Since Cole was left out of the photos on the first day of school, here is a cute one of him from earlier in the summer. I printed one of these in black and white which is super cute, but couldn't seem to find it in my files to attach here. Enjoy my sweet Coley!

A note about packing school lunches

Okay . . . so I have found out that you can't cook a corn dog in the morning and put it in a thermos to stay warm to be eaten at school. Apparently it shrivels up, gets really hard, and then your first grader doesn't have much of a lunch to eat. Just thought I would share my new found knowledge with you. (Sorry, Robbie!)

FIRST DAY of SCHOOL

Robbie and Alexa started school yesterday. Robbie went to first grade, while Alexa began pre-kindergarten. Alexa is now in the same school as Robbie; their classrooms are right next to each other and they share the same morning recess time. Robbie will be in school all day everyday (of course); Alexa's program is everyday until noon. They both were excited for the first day of school and had a lot to report when they returned home.

Photos shared above are the ritual first day of school photos in front of the house (at least that is the way my mom always did them) and Rachel cheering now that she is the oldest kid at home.

Summer Fun

Well we have completed an extremely busy June and are now almost two weeks into July without any post from the Hunts. No suprise as we seem to neglect this wonderful old blog! Krista and I spent four wonderful days in the San Diego area without kids as I had a conference there. We were entertained and had a nice time. Nancy is to be thanked as she handled Robbie, Alexa, Rachel, and Cole as we had fun on the west coast. All was well when we returned and packed up for a family vacation at Lake of the Ozarks with my mom, brother, sister and their families. 14 people in one house.....7 adults.......7 kids(six and under). Sounds like the making of some new reality show. We had a great time! Kids and adults all behaved! It was the first Hunt vacation with all the kids together. I know we will need to do it again sometime. Other than the AC on the van going out on the way back to Oklahoma, the trip to and from the lake went very well. There is nothing like a family of six sweating profusely for over six hours in a mini van. All the places we stopped to cool off had to laugh as we stored as much ice and water as we could before we left.

The football season is just around the corner and I am sad that my summer is coming to an end. 18 days left to have fun with the family before much longer work days begin. All is well in OK! Pictures of the vacation to be posted soon.

Rachel and Cole's Birthday Photos

Well, they are 16 months old now, but I don't want to leave them out, so here are a few photos from their celebration. Their birthday was on Tuesday, Feb. 5, but we celebrated the following Saturday when Grandma Hunt could be here to join the six of us and Grandma Kroll. On Tuesday, they had a twinkie dessert which they really enjoyed. At the "party" they opened their presents and each had a cake with candle, hats, singing . . . the whole bit.
