all is well

I know we dropped off there again for a while. Just too much fun going on. We finished out our San Diego trip with a visit to Sea World, walks around Sea Port village near our hotel, attending the balloon parade (in fact I have a post started that covers this but never seemed to get back to finish it), good sleep and good food, and an unfortunate loss to the Oregon Ducks. In Alexa's words as she was talking to her classmate that we carpool with, "You know, we almost beat the Ducks. We just needed two more [scores, not points] and we would have won." Sometimes her awareness of what is going on in the football world impresses me because as it is actually going on, she doesn't seem too engaged.

Anyway, we made it home from California just fine on Dec. 31. We celebrated Christmas and New Years with my mom, Brian, and Nenya (his new bride) with dinner, gifts, and a Greek tradition involving a cake and hidden coin.

We then left home again on Jan. 1 to return to West Lafayette to celebrate Christmas with Rob's family. Fun always occurs when you throw this group together which includes seven kids (7 and under), seven adults, and a dog. A highlight for the adults -other than watching the kids play so well together- was having a Wii Fit contest one night after the kids all went to bed. We played as couples and had a great time. Most of us were novices with our first attempts ever being our turn in the competition. It proved to be fun for all.

We are back into our routines this week with a few exceptions: Rob doesn't have any players back yet or practices/work-outs going on so his days are shorter and lighter which leads me to my days being a bit lighter so far because he has taken the kids to school each day this week so far. How spoiled am I?!
