Buddies

An era in the Hunt house ended this May. I no longer have a day baby in my care. Our little friend is now a big brother, and his mom will be staying home with both kids at least for the next year. Although in many ways this is a positive change for all involved, I think there may be some friends missing each other.



PS: I am making two photo installments today since everyone was nice enough not to mention I missed yesterday even though it was only day 2 of my new plan. It was a busy day with a workout in the morning, followed by a few errands, and then preparaing our house for hosting a "back to school" cook-out for Rob's staff. Excuses, excuses, I know, but I really would have rather been sitting at the computer rather than running around crazy all day!

Alexa, the Gymnast

Alexa has participated in gymnastics off and on since she was two years old. She seems to enjoy it, and works hard to follow directions and do her best. She is fun to watch and is always excited to accomplish a new skill. She has commented, however, that bridges hurt her wrists and she doesn't really like those.

These photos are from one of their "show off" days at the end of a session. I didn't get to stay the whole time as I had to leave to get Robbie to baseball practice, but I got a few shots from warm ups.





By the way, Alexa has been a soccer and basketball player too. She is also looking forward to trying her hand at softball this coming spring.

Two for One Deal

Four years ago I found out that I was pregnant with twins. After going to the training room to tell Rob and making a few phone calls to family, I sent an email that I titled "Two for One Deal" in which I shared the news with other friends and extended family.

People often ask what I thought when I heard I was having twins, and I always tell them that I laughed. I wasn't shocked or nervous or scared; somehow I think I knew there were two in there and God had already prepared my mind and heart for that. I was comfortable enough with the thought that had the first ultrasound shown just one baby, I am sure I would have been a little sad. I know that sounds crazy, but it is true. I had not voiced my guess to anyone other than one friend I had written a letter to about a week or so before I found out.

It was an amazing and fun day- one I will remember always.

The hardest part of the last four years was the sleepless nights during the pregnancy, but even those have been totally worth it.

I know all kids have friends or siblings whom they are especially close to (I see it a lot between Robbie and Alexa), but I feel there is definitely something special between twins.

Maybe these next few pictures will show a bit of what I have enjoyed the last four years with our twins. They were taken on Easter morning this year.

Baseball: Father-Son Bonding

Robbie played baseball in an 8 and under machine pitch league this year. His team was the Stillwater Patriots. He had fun, learned a lot, improved his skills, and made some great friends.

A couple of weeks ago he tried out for a team for next year (9 and under kid pitch). They were looking for players to play on their AA and AAA team. He was selected for the AAA team (which is supposed to be the better team), so we will see what it brings for him and all of us this coming year. It will involve some fall practices and tournaments which might be more than what we are looking for, but he is really excited and we are definitely proud of him!

Photo-a-Day

Sooo . . . I have been really horrible with updating this blog.

So horrible in fact, that no one probably even checks it anymore.

So . . . my goal for August (and, yes, I know we are already 3 days into August) is to add a picture each day to share some of what we have had going on in the last 6 months. Very little commentary will go along with it as I don't want to overwhelm myself, you know. Hopefully I will be able to catch you all up tho and be able to keep up with the pics.

4 kids, a dog, a mom, and a spider

is what you would have seen walking down our street this morning!

We took a little walk to release a tarantula in the wooded area off the dead end just around the corner from our house.

Where did this tarantula come from? you might wonder. Well, last night Alexa said she saw something crawling in our backyard. Personally I thought she was playing a trick on Robbie. He went out to inspect though and started calling for me saying he thought it was a tarantula.

Now I have to pause here to say that despite Robbie's amazingly large amount of knowledge on animals, he often calls any spider bigger than a quarter a tarantula. With that in mind, I was not overly concerned about their find.

However, when I did make it out to the patio, sure enough a spider that definitely looked like a tarantula was hanging around the bottom of the basketball goal. It was black and hairy and (including its legs) was the size of a hamburger bun.

It was speedy, but I managed to trap it under a clear rubbermaid box for inspection and safe keeping. It wasn't too happy about that, but after everyone including Rob who wasn't home at the time had a chance to see it and Robbie's request to keep it for a pet was denied, we did take a walk down the street to release it this morning.

On our way home, Robbie wondered aloud as to whether it was a female and may have laid an egg sack in our yard. Nice!

Beauty after the storms

We made it through the storms yesterday without any damage. It was a crazy couple of hours but all is well. We took the crew down to the athletic training room before the storm arrived. As we left work, we saw this......
